The special economic zone of Imam Khomeini port with an area of 11044 ha is located in the northwest of Persian Gulf and at the end of Khor Musa waterway. This waterway with an average depth of 20 meters, a width of 250 meters and a length of 42 miles has provided a quiet and secure seaplane for all types of commercial and tanker floats from Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, Oman Sea and Indian Ocean to all parts of the world.

Imam Khomeini port is the biggest commercial port of Iran after Shahid Rajaee port that connects national railway to capital and accepts 30 million tons of goods annually. Hence, it is the largest and most important maritime terminal of the country.

Shahid Rajaee Special Economic Zone is located in 23 kilometers at west of Bandar Abbas in north of Qeshm Island and Strait of Hormuz, and by maintaining maritime relations and exchanging goods with 80 internationally known ports, it is responsible for almost half of Iran's trade.

Shahid Rajaee Special Economic Zone Port is located in the south-to-north transit corridor center which is one of the most important international transit corridors in the world. This corridor connects Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf through Iran to Caspian Sea, then through Russia to St. Petersburg and northern Europe.
The excellent geographical location, access to the world's open waters through the Persian Gulf, connection to international railway network and the Silk Road, the availability of modern equipment and facilities, proximity to free zones of Kish and Qeshm and the ports of Persian Gulf has made this port a basic strategic and unique station.

Chabahar port has great importance due to its strategic location, which is the closest accessibility to free waters for the countries surrounded in dry area of Central Asian including Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and there is lot of construction and investment in this port. This port is one of the most important crossroads of international trade North-South corridor.

Chabahar Port which is in the northern part of Oman Sea can play a special role due to its strategic location for trans-shipment and transit of goods of ports of Persian Gulf, in Afghanistan and Central Asia.

The strategic position of this port and its being located on east development axis of country has led Ports and Maritime Organization to formulate and implement the comprehensive plan for its development as a medium-term plan.

This port has the ability to provide services on a variety of goods, including general, container, bulk, petroleum products, general merchandise, water supply to vessels and maintenance and processing of goods.

Bushehr: Bushehr province with a total area of ​​23,167 square kilometers and 937 kilometers of coastline with Persian Gulf has many small and large ports, the largest and most important of which in the field of transportation of commercial goods is Bushehr port, which has the capacity of accepting 8 million tons of goods reception and has the ability to provide services such as bulk, container, general, petroleum, storage and processing of goods, refrigerated and passenger goods.

Asaluyeh: This port is located in east of Bushehr province in margin of Persian Gulf, in 300 kilometers east of Bushehr port and 420 kilometers west of Lengeh port and 570 kilometers west of Bandar Abbas (neighboring of Bushehr province with other provinces: from north to Fars, from east to Hormozgan and from west To Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad and has about 100 km distance from South Pars Gas Field, which is located in Persian Gulf.

Currently, Persian Gulf Maritime Services Company with 15 navigators and 11 floats including tows, navigator and barge boats provides towing services in Assaluyeh Port.

Khorramshahr Port is considered as one of container ports of country in Persian Gulf and is considered strategic area economically and politically due to being in neighborhood of Iraq which has provided good opportunity for investment for being located in Free Trade Zone of Arvand area and close to Abadan Refinery and Khuzestan Steel Industry.

Khoramshahr has a special strategic, economic, commercial and political significance for its presence in the vicinity of Persian Gulf and Iraq. This city is located at the extreme point of Khuzestan province and its docks are located on the banks of the Arvandrood River.

It is one of the most important economic and commercial ports of Iran from which a great volume of goods is annually transported from this port. This port is the closest port to Tehran and it is equipped with airlines. Its distance from Tehran is 200 kilometers.

Nowshahr port with over 70 years of experience was established with the arrival of the first commercial ship carrying parts and machinery of Karaj Iron & Steel Works Factory.

The port has the ability to provide services to a variety of goods including general, container, bulk, petroleum, general cargo of ships, logistics, maintenance and processing of goods and there is the possibility of merchants and private sector investors benefiting from the benefits and facilities that arise due to Law of Special Economic Zones.

The special economic zone of Amir Abad port is located in east of Mazandaran province and 51 km from the city of Sari. The special zone with 1060 hectares of land (which could be increased to 2120 hectares), being located on International North-South Transit Corridor and benefiting from a unique and exceptional location plays an important role in national and regional dimensions.
