Chabahar port has great importance due to its strategic location, which is the closest accessibility to free waters for the countries surrounded in dry area of Central Asian including Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and there is lot of construction and investment in this port. This port is one of the most important crossroads of international trade North-South corridor.

Chabahar Port which is in the northern part of Oman Sea can play a special role due to its strategic location for trans-shipment and transit of goods of ports of Persian Gulf, in Afghanistan and Central Asia.

The strategic position of this port and its being located on east development axis of country has led Ports and Maritime Organization to formulate and implement the comprehensive plan for its development as a medium-term plan.

This port has the ability to provide services on a variety of goods, including general, container, bulk, petroleum products, general merchandise, water supply to vessels and maintenance and processing of goods.

Currently, Persian Gulf Maritime Services Company with 3 navigators and 1 navigator boat provides steering in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
